Can we please stop banning things on the internet? Please?
Utah is banning VPN access for minors. And this follows from a long line of events where states and countries are mandating age-verification on everything. While I understand the sentiment of “would you please think of the children”, just, what are you trying to do to our children?
While the intentions are all good, can we please stop and think how this is done? Like, how do I know I can trust that the people who are handling the data will be safely and securely handle it? For starters, we are hearing about “data-leaks” of selfies and IDs of verification software. Hello? Excuse me? Why do you need me to upload it? Why can’t you run a small local model for me that keeps my data in place? This shouldn’t happen in the first place, but by doing so you lot are exposing our children to all sorts of malicious actors on the Internet. Please, just leave us alone and for the love of god, parent better.
I will write a long-form blog post about it some day. But this is ridiculous.
Don’t you just love AI as your literary critic. You give it the same draft you write and you get some sensible output. Fair enough, sounds agreeable. Then, just to fiddle around, you regenerate a response. And now all your pros are cons and all your cons are now not so bad. I mean, what? What are we doing here, man?
Yeah, no, AI writing is still terrible. Even the heavyweight frontier models.
So I was back at that particular grocer. They actually have it now. 30 eggs for $6.88.
But can you believe it though? Like, people are queuing up to buy eggs like how they were queuing up to buy bread in the late Soviet Union. The parking lot is already nearing capacity and it’s only what, 0900 on a Saturday?!
You know, if some economic shock comes about with where we are now, we’re all fucked. Like, I think lowkey the best electoral strategy for any up-and-about political party should be something like the Nazi soup kitchen. I am telling you, it will attract a good chunk of middle and lower class. Because the affordability crisis is a middle class issue now.
Like, a political party these days should really just be getting people out to know their platform if they start selling eggs at $2 (which is a discount) a dozen and put their platform leaflets in it. I’m pretty sure half of the community would turn up for it. Avi Lewis you better be listening.
It’s ridiculous out there. People are going crazy for eggs.
Can you believe that? $6.88 for 30 large white eggs. I was there at around 1700; they had two refrigerator units allocated just for these and they are all out! They’ve even put up a little sign that says “we will have more stock tomorrow”.
I swear I’m not obsessed, you’re obsessed.
